This workbook is a guide for delegates who are attending the Alberta Summit on Justice. The workbook will help delegates participate more fully in Summit discussions.

The workbook is divided into the same eight topic areas that will be discussed at the Summit. Each area has three main information components:

1. Background facts about the topic.
2. Recommendations from the pre-Summit public and sector submissions that relate to the topic.
3. Seven questions concerning the topic. The questions are listed to help delegates focus their thoughts and to prepare for the Summit’s small group discussions. They will not be specifically answered at the Summit. Each of the small groups will be asked to consider:

a) Current strengths and weaknesses of the justice system.
b) Recommendations to assist in making a good justice system better.
