Alberta's Crime Reduction and Safe Communities Task Force was established to gather input and ideas from Albertans on ways to reduce crime, enhance community safety and improve public confidence in the criminal justice system.
The nine-member task force, chaired by Heather Forsyth, MLA for Calgary-Fish Creek, met with the public and stakeholders in 14 communities throughout Alberta in April and May 2007 to hear concerns and gather successful best practices from the community.
A symposium was held in Calgary in June 2007. Delegates discussed options and best practices, which were included in the task force’s final report along with recommendations to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
