Staff from the Calgary Correctional Centre, Calgary Remand Centre, and Calgary Young Offender Centre went bald for the Kids Cancer Care Foundation on June 7. Sixteen correctional officers went under the razor to help raise almost $7,000. CCC employee Lorna Taylor, the only female to shave her head, raised over $2,000 alone.
Staff from the Calgary Crown Prosecutors’ Office also shaved their heads for the cause raising $9,355. The funds will be used to send children with cancer to camp,to help treat children while in the hospital and for cancer research.

The third annual Jerry P. Selinger Golf Tournament was held June 26th at the Calgary Elks Lodge & Golf Club and raised $54,000 in support of two worthy causes: the HomeFront Jerry Selinger Memorial Fund to assist victims of domestic violence and the Peter Lougheed Centre Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic Greatest Needs Fund to provide patient support.
The Calgary Police Service’s sixth annual Coats for Kids campaign began Nov. 1. Donations of winter jackets, hats, boots and gloves can be dropped off at any police district office. Donated items are distributed by the Calgary public and Catholic school system and the Rockyview School Division.

Staff within Alberta Justice and the Alberta Solicitor General are once again participating in the United Way campaign. Activities include BBQs, book sales, bingos, bake sales and payroll deductions.
