Crime Prevention Week increases public awarenessBy Terry Jorden
Highlights
included the Alberta Crime Prevention Awards where 13 recipients were
honored. The recipients included police members, individuals (including
two youth leaders) and community organizations that went above and beyond
expectations to reduce crime in their communities. Alberta Solicitor General Heather Forsyth attended the Alberta Association of School Resource Officers (AASRO) conference and the Calgary Block Watch launch of a new crime prevention program for Calgarys multicultural communities. Your presence at this conference shows your commitment to making our schools and our communities safer places to live and learn, Forsyth said to those attending the AASRO conference May 14. The minister also toured an award winning downtown Edmonton underground parking lot that utilizes features of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design.
