Calgary Police Association president Al Koenig presented a $19,500 cheque to the Society for Treatment of Autism to support a new facility to treat children with autism. The association raised the funds through a May 22 Legends Alive concert at the Saddledome, featuring Elvis, ABBA, Garth Brooks impersonators and others.

This year’s Jerry P. Selinger Invitational Golf Tournament was another resounding success with 144 golfers participating. See next issue for results.

Detective Jack Kraus of the Edmonton Police Service is raising money to help Kosovo children in need. The money raised will be used for food, clothing, school supplies and playground equipment. Insp. Kraus along with two other members from British Columbia and Ontario were stationed in Kosovo.

Members of both the Pipes and Drums of the Edmonton Police Service Pipe and Drums and the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band traveled to Normandy in early June to participate in the official opening of the Juno Beach Centre to recognize Canada’s WW II veterans.
