Planning for Alberta's future

Along with the release of the budget, the Alberta Government unveiled the details of its 20-year strategic plan for the province.

This new long-range plan for the province was introduced to Albertans in February through the premier's television address and the Throne Speech.

The plan incorporates the ideas heard from Albertans over the last few years, both in formal settings such as summits, and in informal ways through letters and conversations with constituents.

The goal of this plan is to lay the groundwork so that Albertans are able to do what they do best - bring that Alberta spirit to the continued growth and prosperity of the province in the future.

The strategy recognizes that Alberta's success is not due to what government does, but to what Albertans do. It is Albertans who build businesses, teach children, provide care for patients, and build communities where people feel safe, respected and free.

In a nutshell, the strategy is comprised of four pillars. Unleashing innovation, leading in learning, and competing in a global marketplace are the first three.

Alberta Justice and Alberta Solicitor General, along with their partners, will have a key role to play in achieving the fourth pillar: to make Alberta the best place to live, work and visit.

Addressing family violence, building safe communities, and informing Albertans about justice are a few examples of how crucial the fourth pillar is to Alberta's continued success.

It is by working collaboratively with community stakeholders that Alberta Justice and Alberta Solicitor General will be able to effectively achieve this outcome and identify the strategies to get there.
