Two RCMP "K" Division members became members of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces in May, a prestigious position in the Canadian Honour System. Const. Philip McKerry of Stony Plain, was recognized for this work with youth and his commitment to search and rescue and dive rescue. St. Sgt Ray Munro, was recognized for his achievements in aboriginal community policing, volunteer peacekeeping duties and exceptional investigational and organizational abilities.
Alberta Justice's Crown Prosecutor Val Campbell received a 2004 Edmonton YWCA Women of Distinction Award in Business, Management and the Professions.
Calgary Police Service members Det. Theresa Garagan and Const. Marie Dick spent 80 hours atop a Calgary department store eventually raising more than $20,000 for Alberta Special Olympics.
